This is a ceremonial girl's silk under-kimono from Japan. The design is printed using the "itajime" board clamp technique.
It was made to be worn for a ceremony, such as for Girl's Day, school graduation, etc. The 5 family crests were never added [blank circles now]. Itajme under-kimono such as this one were popular in the late 1890s--early 1900s.
This kimono is more than 100 years old and in excellent condition. A rare collector's piece!
