A Japanese ink, pigments/colors on silk, signed and sealed, hand painted kakejiku scroll depicting Emperor Taisho in Imperial outfit. Background material is also silk brocade woven with Imperial kamons: the stylized paulownia-The mon of the Toyotomi Clan, now used as the emblem of the Japanese Government; originally an emblem of the imperial family, and also The Imperial Seal of Japan-a stylized chrysanthemum blossom (see photos attached). Roller end material is red sandalwood, black lacquer finish with gold foil (see photos attached). Storage box made of paulownia wood is included.
Measurements: 75 1/2 inches (192 cm) H; 23 1/2 inches (59.5 cm). Some imperfections consistent with vintage items, but no tears, cuts, or damage to the artwork.
